Golf:
Nearest course (i.e. just below the terrace) - Marina Golf Club, Mojacar - an ideal 'everyday' course as it has something for everyone. Wide open forgiving fairways with only a little water, possibly the highest tee anywhere from where you will amaze yourself with the apparent length of your drive, up-hill holes, down-hill holes. If playing 18 holes and you are not super-fit, take a buggy - it's a long way up and over the hill!
Other courses nearby: Valle del Este Golf Club and Resort - has to be ones of the best-kept courses we have every played. Lush fairways and even lusher greens. Almost every Tee box is elevated as the course winds its way through the undulating countryside. Again, unless fit, take a buggy. A challenging course for beginners - you really need to be able to drive at least 100 yards reliably or take lots of balls.
Desert Springs Golf Club - Europe's only 'Arizona-style' course. Lush grass is interspersed with desert-like rocky terrain to catch those wayward drives. Wide fairways are very inviting and greens immaculate. The course winds through luxury villas so beware of wayward shots to the left - you may have to retrieve your ball from someone's terrace.
Cortijo Grande Golf Club - has to be most beautiful setting for a golf course anywhere in the world. Set amongst orange, lemon and almond groves this 9-hole course really does follow the contours of the valley in which it has been set. Not for the faint-hearted but must be visited.
