Cyprus avoids economic slump
Property investment abroad: 18 April 2008Holiday home buyers could find Cyprus an ideal location in which to purchase a property, according to a media report.
The Mediterranean island was described by the Independent as a country which offers both big resorts and quiet villages, thereby giving it a broad appeal to lifestyle buyers.
However, Cyprus was also said to offer a number of financial advantages, especially as it has not been negatively affected by the economic slowdown in Europe.
In fact, house prices in the country went up by 20 per cent in 2007, which suggests that even amid the ongoing financial turmoil, the island could be a safe, secure and potentially lucrative investment.
Commenting on the Cypriot market, the Independent said: "It looks as though the island may buck the current trend for falling house prices."
Cyprus was recently highlighted as a popular destination for British holidaymakers by travel firm Thomas Cook.
According to the company, the island is currently as popular as ever, as it offers an affordable holiday and good weather prospects.
