Dubai attracts foreign holidaymakers

Those seeking a luxurious holiday destination are increasingly turning to Dubai, according to a report from the Association of British Travel Agents (ABTA).

ABTA representative Frances Tuke explained that Dubai has invested in its development from a desert city to a top quality tourist spot.

Ms Tuke explained: "Dubai is really four and five star upwards when it comes to its tourism offering - that is totally an example of where a lot of money and a lot of resources have been ploughed into the tourism products."

This positive reaction to the city appears to be international, as the Brazil-Arab news agency ANBA reports that 20,000 Brazilian visitors are expected to make the trip this year, up from 10,000 in 2007.

Hamad Mohammed bin Mejren, head of the Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing in Dubai made the prediction, which he claims is based on word-of-mouth advertisements of the tourist and business destination.
