Golf:
Villamartin Golf Course - A few minutes drive from the villa. 18 holes, 6,132 meters, par 72. A quality course that once held the Mediterranean open. The course designer Paul Putman has created a real golfing masterpiece where each hole complements the other and the hazards are carefully placed.
Las Ramblas Golf Course - Within 5 minutes drive of the villa. 18 holes, 5914 metres, par 72. Vert tricky with loads of 'Ramblas' gorges to drive into. Take your camera with you and a few extra balls!
Campoamor Golf Course - Within 5 minutes drive of the villa. 18 holes, 6203 metres, par 72. Campoamor is a nice open course covered in lush grass with palm trees, beautiful pinewoods, orange trees and overlooking the coast from Torrevieja to La Manga del Mar Menor.
Eating out, Shopping and markets:
There are a number of Indian restaurants, a traditional Spanish restaurant and an Irish pub (with satellite TV usually showing major sporting events and with live entertainment most nights) within easy walking distance. One of the best Chinese restaurants in the area is less than a minute's stroll. The plazas at Villamartin, Los Dolses and Rioja are within 5 minutes drive and have a multitude of different shops, restaurants (with a wide range of international cuisine) and bars.
There are two supermarkets within a short walk of the villa, a small mini-market few minutes away and a large supermarket about 10 minutes away. The nearest outdoor market is at Playa Flamanca on Saturday mornings and on Friday mornings Torrevevieja market is one of the largest in Europe where you will find everything from genuine Spanish handicrafts, to low priced leather goods, shoes, textiles, silver and a huge variety of fresh local produce.
Torrevieja:
Torrevieja has a superb selection of sports for the enthusiast, including sailing, diving, tennis, bowls, athletics, football and a gymnasium. The coast is lined with beaches of fine sand, providing a complete range of beach activities. 7 of these beaches are EU Blue Flag beaches providing clean and safe fun for all the family. The World Health Organisation recommends Torrevieja as having one of the healthiest climates in the world. This is caused by the combination of constant year round warm temperatures and the two huge salt lakes at the edge of town, rich in minerals. The natural salt lakes dry the air, therefore reducing humidity and producing a healthy atmosphere, especially to arthritis sufferers. There are numerous bars and restaurants which serve fantastic cuisine (and alcohol) for all tastes, from traditional Spanish Tapas to the delights of Italian, French, Chinese, Indian, Mexican, and traditional British cuisine.
