Punta Lara, Nerja, caters brilliantly for family holidays in the sun. Many properties in Punta Lara have their own, private swimming pools, which are priceless during the long, hot summer months. For those that don’t, there is a huge communal pool open from May until October, which boasts a full-time lifeguard and children’s area. There are also two excellent restaurants, as well as a bar (which will already be familiar to any Emmerdale fans as ‘Pedro’s Bar’), which is often filled with the sound of singing and dancing during the evening.

The beaches of the Costa del Sol are just a stones throw from a holiday rental villa in Punta Lara. Just a five minute wander from your Punta Lara accommodation will bring you to the golden expanse of Playazo Beach, which is squeezed between the azure waters of the Mediterranean and the string of Spanish chiringitos (beach bars) which serve authentic Spanish cuisine at very reasonable prices.

The mountains that provide such a stunning backdrop for the village area also a haven of activity. The Sierra Nevada Mountains are not only the home to Europe’s most southerly ski resorts in the winter months (accessible in just over an hour from a Punta Lara apartment or villa), but also the perfect place to go walking, cycling, horse riding or mountain climbing. The centre of Nerja Town is just a leisurely twenty minute stroll from a self catering Punta Lara villa. Nerja is one of the last traditional towns on the Costa del Sol, and with over 500 bars and restaurants, 16km of beaches and all the water sports facilities you could ever wish for, it is little wonder that the town is one of the most popular places to visit in Axarquia, and it is all easily within walking distance of a Punta Lara holiday home. The nearby Nerja Caves are also very well worth exploring.

Average monthly temperatures in July and August are over 30˚C, with temperatures in the middle of the day occasionally reaching 40˚C, making a Punta Lara villa with a pool a real asset. During the coldest months, (January and February), rain is infrequent and temperatures still average over 12˚C.

Cheap flights to Punta Lara, Spain

Punta Lara is well positioned to take advantage of the huge number of daily flight coming in and out of Malaga Airport (AGP), located just over half an hour away by road. There are a range of busses and coaches running between Malaga and Nerja, so reaching your holiday home shouldn’t pose too many problems from anywhere in the UK.
