Uzes villa - comfort garden garage 5-min. stroll from historic centre
This light and airy 3-bedroom, 2-bathroom, fully equipped, provençal villa, just 5 minutes on foot from the centre of medieval Uzes, offers you all the convenience of a town apartment PLUS -- a 120 sq.m. Mediterranean garden with 2 terraces and BBQ, an enclosed 'terrace Tropézienne' (solarium, or sun-terrace) on the first floor, and an attached, lockable, garage with an additional parking space -- all within a quiet and secure, gated, residential environment. Sunbathe or chill out with a glass of wine in the intimacy of the upstairs sun-terrace, outdo Rick Stein or Jamie Oliver in the well equipped kitchen, dine outside on the sheltered garden terraces or inside, relax with a good book or a DVD (or Freeview satellite TV) in the comfortably furnished living area, or simply visit the many and varied restaurants and cafes of Uzès -- and safely stroll back home for a quiet night’s sleep in large comfortable beds: no need to worry if sharing that bottle of wine has put you over the limit!

In just a minute after walking out of the villa up the chemin du Paradis, you will find yourselves in the narrow, twisting streets of Uzes, an extraordinarily beautiful medieval town in Provence, Gard, set in a region of verdant valleys rimmed by ribs of arid, rocky garrigue, between the sea and the Cévennes mountains. The villa is no more than five minutes’ walk from restaurants, patisseries, boulangeries, cafes, small supermarkets, and the town’s famous arcaded square, La Place aux Herbes, scene of the renowned Saturday provencal market. In spite of its central location, you can also walk out and into vineyards and fields where you can wander along the paths, or you can descend into the craggy gorge of the Eure and walk along its refreshing rushing river. There you will find the spring which was the source of water for thirsty Roman Nîmes, via the famous aqueduct that crosses the spectacular Pont du Gard.

Local activities in Uzes
In Uzes, explore its medieval streets and squares or visit one of its many festivals and exhibitions including the regular markets on Saturdays and Wednesdays, the Sunday flea market, and the seasonal Wine Fair, Garlic Fair, Truffle Fair, Antiques and Brocante Fair, Modern Dance and Classical Music Festivals and the 3-day Fête Votive in August with non-stop entertainment including bull-running in the streets (find out the meanings of 'abrivado' and 'bandido'). And be free to spend relaxed evenings in the many excellent restaurants and cafes. This part of Provence is also particularly agreeable off season. Clement temperatures, with blue skies and sunshine illuminating the picturesque panoramas of Uzes and its surrounding villages, make it an artist's paradise!
Explore the region around Uzes
France is a country of surprising contrasts and within an hour and a half you can visit such vastly different regions as the Cévennes (chestnut forests, Robert Louis Stevenson trail), the Ardèche (river and gorges), the Luberon (Gordes, Fontaine de Vaucluse, 'Peter Mayle country'), Les Alpilles (St Rémy de Provence, Les Baux de Provence) and the Camargue with its wild white horses, and black bulls. The Camargue also offers miles of wild beaches and small fishing ports where fresh fish and seafood can be tasted. Avignon (with its Popes’ palace and famous bridge) and Nîmes (Roman temples and arena) are 45 minutes away and Montpellier (shopping, Opera, old town) and Arles (arena, Van Gogh museum) an hour and a quarter. Marseille is France's third largest city (cosmopolitan shopping, scores of fresh seafood restaurants at the old port, museums, Château d'If) - and is 1h45min by car. There are regular bus services from Uzès to Avignon, Nîmes and Arles, stopping at the villages along the way
Sports activities
If you like swimming in the wild, there are beaches on the Gardon where the water is probably quite cool!!! Uzes itself has an excellent municipal swimming pool and tennis club set in the old bishops’ park, only a 15-minute walk from the villa, and a short drive away is La Bouscarasse, a water sports centre. Other sports to be found nearby include horse riding, tennis, golf (Uzes has a 9-hole course), cycling, canoing/kayaking on the Gardon, and even hot-air ballooning with a local professional. Uzes also has a small aerodrome and aero club. If you like walking, with a contour map you will be able to find paths through the garrigue, or trace the route of the Roman aqueduct to the Pont du Gard, or follow the long distance path (Grande Randonnée), part of which runs parallel to the gorges of the Gardon river. You can also explore the many small, unspoiled perched villages which dot the landscape.
Other Activities Hot-air ballooning
